Author Megan Miranda wants a movie or TV adaptation of her latest novel, Daughter of Mine, and hopes Callum Turner will star. Miranda expressed that she usually doesn't cast characters while writing because they are unique and come to life on the page. "I normally don't think about it, but it'll come later. I'll be watching a show or movie and see an actor who represents one of my characters."
"I can envision that person embodying these traits," Miranda explained, emphasizing that their appearance is less important compared to their ability to portray a diverse range of personalities. Miranda shared her preference for having an "open mind" as well. This happened when one of the media person assisted her in fancasting the novel Daughter of Mine.
The story revolves around Hazel Sharp's return to her hometown, Mirror Lake, during a drought after her father, the town's sheriff, passes away. When he leaves her the house, a series of mysteries unfold, giving Hazel the chance to find the answers she's been seeking. When casting Hazel, names like Florence Pugh or Daisy Edgar-Jones were considered.
We chose Sophie Turner for Gage, the detective in Mirror Lake, just as Miranda wanted. "I think Turner would make a great Gage in Masters of the Air," she said excitedly. For the role of Caden, Miranda thought Jacob Elordi would be a perfect fit, while the media person recommended Chase Stokes or Barry Keoghan.
Miranda's novels have not been adapted yet, but she is open to it. Her first choice is "Daughter of Mine." "I find the concept of bringing that world and setting to life very thrilling."
