Nikki Blonsky from 'Hairspray' Announces Marriage to Hailey Jo Jenson: 'Felt Like the Perfect Moment'

Nikki Blonsky, 35, revealed in a recent interview with Out that she married her partner Hailey Jo Jenson (they/them), in a private ceremony on Oct. 21, 2023. "It was incredibly special," said the singer of "I Can Hear the Bells" about the intimate wedding ceremony. "All I wanted was to marry Hailey." Once Hailey arrived, we were ready to proceed with the wedding officiant.

In a joint interview, the couple disclosed getting matching ring tattoos to commemorate their engagement. This private moment occurred during a trip to New York in 2022, where they exchanged rings. "I wanted to do a big proposal, but that's not really us. I just wanted it to be genuine," Blonsky said. "So one night, we were just hanging out watching TV in bed, and the ring was burning a hole in my pocket." "Jenson mentioned they were expressing their deep love for each other and becoming overwhelmed. 'I pulled out a ring, Hailey pulled out a ring, and then we all started screaming,' Blonsky recounted."

Although they announced their engagement on Instagram in September 2022, they preferred to announce their marriage privately and at their own pace. It was heartwarming to witness my brother tie the knot in November, allowing him to openly refer to his spouse. Blonsky explained why she felt ready to reveal she is married to Jenson. "‘And with Pride Month upcoming, I always encourage people to embrace their true selves and strive for happiness. Everyone deserves love," she mentioned.

The duo informed Out magazine that they initially connected on TikTok Live, where Blonsky, who publicly came out in 2020, randomly chose fans to chat with on the app. Jenson and Blonsky chatted, ordered a Cameo, and fell in love instantly. "I recall when Hailey visited me in California. As they reached the top of my staircase carrying their luggage, they turned around and I instantly saw their face. In that moment, I knew for certain that this was the person I would marry," she shared.

Prior to meeting Jenson, Blonsky had never contemplated marriage. "I was content with my career [and thought], 'If love comes, it comes.' Luckily, it was meant to be," she said."
